Dubai: Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, has launched the second season of the “Muezzin Al Freij” initiative. This season will focus more on strengthening family roles in teaching children about national identity and Islamic values.
Sheikh Hamdan also introduced the “Quran in Every Home” campaign, which aims to give every household in Dubai a copy of the Quran to promote religious awareness. As part of this, copies of the Quran will be handed out at mosques in Dubai, especially those with many worshippers. The goal is for families to read and reflect on the Quran during Ramadan, which begins in seven weeks.
The second season of “Muezzin Al Freij” will increase the number of participating mosques by 50%. This year, the initiative will target children ages 6-14, encouraging them to visit mosques, learn the call to prayer (adhan), and take part in Tarawih prayers during Ramadan.
Sheikh Hamdan’s goal for this initiative is to help children connect with mosques, develop their spiritual growth, and strengthen community involvement. He wants to encourage children to wear traditional Emirati clothing when attending mosques, fostering pride in their culture and values.
The initiative also aims to show how mosques can be places for learning, building character, and developing the community.
Ahmad Darwish Al Muhairi, Director-General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD), thanked Sheikh Hamdan for his support. He said the program fits with Dubai’s Social Agenda 33, which aims to build happy, strong families with shared values and national identity.
Al Muhairi added that the program will help nurture a generation committed to serving their communities and appreciating the call to prayer.
Registration for “Muezzin Al Freij” will open on January 13 and close on February 7. Evaluations of the participants will begin on February 10, where the best voices for the adhan will be chosen.
